Hondo High School
The enrollment at Hondo High School is just under 600 students. The original structure was constructed in 1950. There have been a number of additions and renovations since the 1950's, however the campus still has a number challenges related to educational/programmatic adequacy, and capital needs. The HISD bond program includes the following improvements for Hondo High School:
- New Career & Technology Education & Ag Facility – Includes 4 classrooms for Ag Welding, Ag Woodworking/Construction Trades, FFA & a multi-purpose classroom, computer lab, and shops for welding, woodworking and construction trades.
- Science Lab Renovation – Repurpose existing Art to a science lab
- New Band Hall
- New Student & Community Fine Arts Center – Seating for 600 w/UIL compliant stage. Also includes new Art room.
- Activity Center Renovations – Includes handicap Access to 4 classrooms on second floor along with demolition of stage, repurposing the space for 3 classrooms.
- Addition to Frank Holden Field House to replace the Freshmen Field House
- New Student Athletic Center – Includes gym, dressing rooms to support boys & girls athletics, training room and support spaces. Center will also provide public access to restrooms for baseball.
- New UIL Compliant Track with supporting restrooms/concessions.
- New Marching Band Practice Area
- New bell/intercom system; upgrade fire alarm; and reroute Avenue H
